TRAINING & EDUCATION
The I.B.A. soon realised that training needed to be an important part of its activities and since 1965 it has held training courses in one form or another.
From 1965 until 1972 the I.B.A. operated a training centre in Luxemburg.
From 1973 until his death during an I.B.A. meeting in 1976 the training centre was run by Mr John Whyte at the Blackpool College of Technology and Art. He radically expanded the course. Since Mr John Whyte's sad demise the course has borne his name in appreciation of his efforts.
From 1977 to 1981 the training centre was run by A.I.B.E.S. at the Stresa Hotel Workers Training School, Italy.
From 1982 until 1987 the training centre was in the regions of the Algarve and Oporto, Portugal.
From 1988 to 1991 the training centre returned to Italy.
The training centre was then run in two centres, in Norway from 1992 and Singapore from 1993, Singapore still runs a 'John Whyte' course.
In this days is the Training Centre in Czech republic under direction of Milan Kolar and in Singapore under direction of Derrick Lee.
In 1987 the Education Development Committee (E.D.C.) was founded under the chairmanship of Mr Brian Page to co-ordinate the various education and training courses into an internationally accepted format, it is as a result of the efforts of this committee that we see the course in its present form where each country runs a course to the format set out by the E.D.C. With further advanced courses being held or planned for many centres around the world it can be seen that the I.B.A. is indeed a major contributor in the field of education.
In present time are members of EDC Milan Kolar from Czech republic, James Murphy from Irelan and Jorge Pereirra from Portugal.
